Life's A Beach And Then... by Julia Roberts - Review

Embedded image permalink
Holly Wilson has landed a dream job but there is one proviso... she must keep it secret, and that means telling lies. Holly hates telling lies. Her latest assignment has brought her to the paradise island of Mauritius where she meets a British couple, Robert and Rosemary, who share a tragic secret of their own. The moment they introduce Holly to handsome writer, Philippe, she begins to fall in love, something she hasn’t allowed herself to do for twenty years. But Philippe has not been completely honest either and when Holly stumbles across the truth, she feels totally betrayed.

When I first began reading this book I was slightly skeptical over the characters and their roles within the narrative as in truth there are only four main character from whom the plot centered around, Holly , Phillipe, Robert and Rosemary, and the narrative is told through their own lives, but as soon as I started reading I was hooked!

The story follows Holly Wilson a travel blogger during an undercover hotel visit who is perfectly happy being alone, until she is invited to dine with two veterans of the island and their handsome friend Phillipe who might just be falling for Holly .

The characters are so well thought out and created that I couldn't help but feel emotionally connected to them whenever things happened to them they pulled on my heartstrings especially when they happened to Holly, she is such a loveable character and so human its is very easy to want the best for her and you really are rooting for her the whole way through the book ( myself especially as with the same name thing I couldn't help but want her to be happy).

The other characters are also brilliantly written in ways that ways that do not do them justice unless you read the book but the basis of them is that Phillipe is a writer, handsome and challenging is a good word for him as he is so sweet and lovely but can change instantly from his past but you cant help but fall in love with him when reading about him, just be weary when approaching his tall dark handsome stranger ;)

And last are Robert and Rosemary and oh my goodness they are brilliant they are the cutest people ever, and they must be one of the most kind-hearted pair I have ever have the pleasure of reading about, so thank you Julia for writing them, they make you feel like family when you read about them, truly loved them.

Overall i really enjoyed reading this book, with the characters, the absorbing plot which keeps you hooked until the end and the glorious setting of Mauritius makes this book ideal for the summer or any holiday in the sun so you can soak up the sun with this perfect holiday read, I honestly cannot wait for the next book in the series so I can read it and find out what happens to Holly next .

Author Bio
Following the launch of her first book, Julia needed a well-deserved break and booked a holiday to Mauritius. Her children, now adults, had bought her a notebook with words on the cover that read Hold on people…  I’m having an Idea. On the first morning of her holiday, Julia had just that – the idea for her first novel.
Over the course of the ten days she was in Mauritius, she scribbled copious notes, thoughts and ideas. When she arrived home, she started writing.
Life’s a Beach is part one of the Liberty Sands trilogy.  Julia has already started writing book two, If He Really Loved Me… , which she hopes to finish in the Autumn.

All I Know Now & Meeting Carrie Hope Fletcher

Last week I had the amazing chance of going to Carrie Hope Fletcher's book signing in Liverpool for her new book; All I Know Now. For those who don't know Carrie Hope Fletcher is a Youtuber, singer and actress (currently playing Eponine in Les Mis in the West End) and she has written a book, where she pours her heart out with advice, hoping that it will help those who read it.
Okay I have been a Carrie Hope Fletcher fan for a long time, I think about three years now, or as us fans like to call ourselves; Hopefuls, thats right I am a hopeful and I am proud of it. So anyway having the chance to meet her and have my book signed by her was amazing, I have looked up to her for so long, she is honestly one of my role models, so meeting her was beyond amazing.
Okay back to the actual day, firstly the event was not ticketed, so anyone could come along just as long as they had a book bought from Waterstones, they could have it signed. I honestly didnt think I would actually get the chance to meet her at the start of the day as I had an assessment for a job, so I headed into Waterstones early to give them my book and ask if they could try and get it signed for me whilst I was not there, bearing in mind this was at about half nine in the morning and there was already about a hundred people already waiting and the signing did not start until twelve.
Anyway I went and did my assessment and finished at about 11 so I could actually go to the signing! I picked up my book from the counter where they were holding it for me and I went to join the line, again this is an hour before the signing even starts and there was at least three hundred people in the line, put it this way if you know Liverpool, when I got to the line I was standing by the doors of urban outfitters, and that is with the line snaking around a few times.
Anyway whilst waiting in the line I got to some other hopefuls who were as astounded as I was over the size of the line, and we all chatted and kept each other entertained which was great as I was cold and we needed to keep our minds off the cold,(we did get hot chocolate whilst we were waiting to warm us up), finally twelve came and we started moving forward, at this point there was about four hundred and fifty people waiting and were we told this was the biggest turn out they had ever had for a signing, just shows how dedicated us hopefuls are. It took about two hours for us to get inside to where we could see Carrie, I will admit when I saw her I did have a utter fangirl moment, and then we got to meet her. Oh my Goodness, she is so lovely and sweet and is just as she come across in videos, we only got to chat briefly as there was a lot of people but I did get the chance to have a picture with her.
After me and my friends had all met Carrie, got our books signed and had pictures with her we headed upstairs to sit down for a while, so we could process what had just happened. I had met Carrie Hope Fletcher, one of my role models, (honestly I still cant believe it happened) but as we only spoken to her for such a small time and of course we wanted to say so much more, we went downstairs to buy a card so we could write what we had wanted to say to her in it and give it to her, so we did that, we waiting until the end of the signing and  gave it to her, she said thank you and wished us a nice day and we told her to have fun in her Manchester signing which started at five pm that night, and then we left, still reeling from meeting her we never stopped talking until we parted ways.
After this I headed home with my book in hand and started reading it ( I was already half way through ). Honestly All I know Now is such an amazing book, and I am not just saying that, it really is, its so honest about everything and whilst reading it, it really does feel like you are chatting with one of your friends. Here is some information about All I Know Now
Waterstones  / Amazon
We all know that growing up is hard to do, and sometimes the only thing that makes it better are the reassuring words of someone who has walked that bumpy road just a few steps ahead of you and somehow ended up as a fully-functioning adult. Carrie Hope Fletcher is that person.* Thanks to her phenomenally popular YouTube videos, Carrie has become an 'honorary big sister' to hundreds of thousands of young people who turn to her for advice, friendship and, most of all, the knowledge that things will get better. Carrie has created a safe and positive space for young people to connect and share their hopes and concerns online, and now she will share her most personal thoughts and experiences in her first book, ALL I KNOW NOW. Part memoir, part advice guide, it will include Carrie's thoughts on some of the topics she's asked about most regularly: bullying, body image, relationships and perhaps the scariest question of all: what does the future hold for me? With warmth, wit and a sprinkling of hard-won wisdom, Carrie will provide the essential tools for growing up gracefully ...most of the time. *Although she did recently post a video about how to pee in a onesie. So the definition of 'adult' is a bit flexible here ...
That day will always be in my memory as a brilliant day as I got to meet one of my role models, someone I have looked up to for a very long time. Let me know who some of your role models are, Id love to know!

April Favourites

This post is a little late, but it is here is now here, are the things I have been loving in the month of April.
1. Pretty Little Liars

Much like last months favourites I became hooked on another TV show, which would be Pretty Little Liars. It is so amazing, and interesting, I have honestly spent days just marathoning the show trying to figure out who A is even though we have already technically been told, I'm still looking for clues and through theories. Its one of those shows where you give your whole heart to, I am already on season 2 and I don't see me stopping anytime soon and the sixth season comes back in June too!
2. Bridget Jones's Diary
Okay yes until April of this year I had never watched Bridget Jones, Believe me I know where have I been?, So when I told some of the girls from uni this they were astounded and ordered me to go and watch them, so I did, and Oh My Goodness they are brilliant, I cant believe it took me so long to watch them they are the perfect films to watch at any point, and you cant help but smile at every scene. It is truly brilliant, please if you haven't watched it, please do.
3. All I Know Now - Carrie Hope Fletcher

The past month has been very slow for reading, that I must admit, as university and deadlines for the end of my second year have been getting in the way, however I still managed to read All I Know Now by Carrie Hope Fletcher. Carrie is an actress, singer and YouTuber and I have been watching her videos for about four years now, and when she announced she was writing a book I was over the moon, so of course I pre-ordered it and when I got my hands on it I couldn't put it down. It has been described as a best friend on book form and honestly it is the perfect description for All I Know Now, it literally feels like you and your friend are just exchanging stories. Couldn't recommend this book enough and I had the amazing chance to go to the book signing in Liverpool to get my book signed and meet Carrie, which was absolutely amazing!
4. New Kinda New - Bethan Leadley

Bethan Leadley is also another Youtuber  (who is known as MusicalBethan) whose videos I have loved for a very long time, however i have only just gotten around to listening to her EP 'New Kinda New' and it is amazing! The songs are beautifully written and her voice is amazing. I have been listening to this EP nonstop on journeys and I love it, please go check out her music you will not regret it.
and lastly ...

5.SacconeJoly's Videos

Okay, this family is fastly becoming my favourite thing to watch on Youtube. They vlog their everyday lives, and it brilliant to watch, they are such an adorable family, you cant help but feel happy when you watch them, I have literally only been watching since about the middle of April and now I look forward to their 6pm upload everyday and it puts a smile on my face. They are so lovely. I don't think I will ever stop watching their videos. If you want someone new to subscribe to, subscribe to the SacconeJolys.
Well those are all the things I have been loving in April, please tell me what you have been loving :)

How To Deal With Stress

Stress is something that we all get and could all do without, it comes at sometimes the most unwanted of times, for example before exams/deadlines which is happening to me right now, and i am sure a lot of you too, so I thought I would share with you some of the ways I use to relieve myself of stress.
 Enjoy !

  • Listen to music. I know sounds obvious but it helps me a lot, if I can just relax and listen to some music and focus on the lyrics, it really helps me to calm down I really recommend movie scores for this or a chill playlist on Spotify.

  • Read a book. Honestly there is nothing better to get rid of stress than getting lost in a book, where your troubles feel like a million miles away, and then when you come back to reality you won't feel as stressed as before

  • Talk to someone. Oh my goodness, if your are feeling really stressed and it is all getting on top of you, please talk to someone, they might be able to help in some way, remember' a problem shared is a problem halved' please, the people around you will not want you to stress and worry, talk to them and they will help.

  • Sleep on it, if it is a decision that is making you stress, go to sleep, I promise in the morning you will look at it a different way and you will have a clearer head and might be able to make the decision that was stressing you out before.
And Lastly
  • Have a Bath. This is the method I use the most when I am feeling stressed, while your muscles relax in the hot water, your mind can wander and think through everything and you be able to make sense of everything that is making you stress, which helps if you know how to manage what is stressing you out. I would also recommend some Lush bath ballistics and bubble bars for this, the scents make you feel even more relaxed which is exactly what you want, when you're feeling stressed.

Well those are some of my techniques to help deal with stress, please let me know of you have any.
